Ramon Margalef is a ship, not a living person. The Oceanographic Research Ship (BIO) Ramon Margalef belongs to Spanish Oceanography Institute (IEO), and takes its name from a famous spanish oceanogtrapher and ecologician (not ecologist) died in 2004.
Absolutely, The Ramon Margalef has been sailing inbetween my Island here in Tenerife and El Hierro across the water. The Ramon Margalef was substitued at the last moment after Telefonica was refused permissions to allow their cable laying vessel which was moored here in Santa Cruz to assist with the research. Ramon Margalef was then issued to the Island and has been collecting data and mapping labourously for weeks.
