El Hierro recorded an earthquake of 4.6 degrees, the highest amount so far

The island of El Hierro has registered an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 degrees northwest of the town of Frontera, the largest magnitude of those recorded to date since process started on the island.

The earthquake was recorded at 0.20 hours (time Canaria) and was centered 21 kilometers in depth, latitude 27.78 degrees north and longitude 18.05 degrees west, northwest of Frontera, in the north of the island .

The earthquake was widely felt by the population on the island and reached the level IV-V (between widely observed and strong) European macroseismic Scale (EMS), according to the National Geographic Institute.

Residents of other parts of the islands of Tenerife and La Palma also say they felt the earthquake. As happened a few days ago an earthquake of 4.4 degrees, populations of Tenerife, La Palma and La Gomera perceive tremors.

The island of El Hierro has recorded a new earthquake of 3.1 magnitude northwest of the town of Frontera, five hours after suffering the earthquake of greater magnitude than previously included date from volcanic process began in the island.
